Grant Information

Teachers or students can make a written request during the open request period twice annually by completing the form below. The board will consider those requests at the monthly meeting following the close of the open request period. Requestors should be prepared to attend the meeting to present to the board or respond to questions as needed.

Students making funding requests must have a sponsor who is an educator within the school district and will oversee use of disbursed funds.

Eligibility

Grants are available to the following members of the Ellington education community:

  • Teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and other educators in the Ellington elementary, middle and high schools.
  • Students must have a sponsor who is an educator within the school district and will oversee use of grant funds.
  • Community or parent volunteers whose proposed project will take place in the Ellington schools and will advance the Foundation’s mission.
  • Local nonprofit groups whose proposed project will take place in the Ellington schools and will advance the Foundation’s mission.

Grant amounts: Generally, grants will be in $500 to $2,500 range, but the Foundation will consider requests outside of that range based on the potential impact of the proposed project or program.

Priorities

Criteria for evaluating grant applications: The EDUinnovate Foundation places high priority on projects that have the following characteristics:

  1. Are innovative. Innovation is defined as, “the introduction of something new,” and “a new idea, method, or device.” The Foundation is looking for creative uses of technology and teaching techniques, original ideas, and new ways inspire students and enrich their educational experiences.
  2. Fulfill a specific and identified need.
  3. Promise significant impact to one or more groups of students in the Ellington Public Schools.
  4. Would not happen without Foundation funding.

Timeline

The Foundation accepts grant applications during two open request periods each year. The timeline for the 2021-2022 school year is as follows:
